Elk River man arrested after firing shots at Sherburne County Government Center

A 51-year-old Elk River man was arrested Saturday morning after firing several shots into windows between the front doors of the Sherburne County Government Center.


Law enforcement from multiple agencies responded to the reports of fired shots at about 9:30 a.m. Nobody was injured.


According to a news release from the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, identified as Zha Veng, was arrested outside the building as he was walking away while holding a long gun.


County staff are working to secure the building and assess the damage. 


The incident remains under active investigation.
