The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has confirmed the first presence of emerald ash borer in Kanabec County on Thursday.
According to a news release, the MDA is enacting an emergency quarantine of Kanabec County to limit the movement of firewood, mulch, and ash materials.
The EAB infestations were found near the town of Quamba along Highway 23.
An additional infestation was also found in Cambridge.
All of Isanti County will be under a quarantine, expanding on a partial measure that had been passed in November of 2022.
