Fire Damages Harvest Christian School in Sandstone

Tragedy struck the Harvest Christian School in Sandstone Thursday night as fire damaged one of its buildings.

According to the Pine County Sheriff's Office, the fire was reported just after 8:00 p.m. when two staff members notice smoke coming from the roof. The first deputy on the scene spotted flames coming from the attic.

Multiple fire departments responded to the school and ended up staying at the scene until midnight.

Pine County Deputy Chief Widenstrom told WCMP that the cause of the fire has yet to be determined; however, Widenstrom says the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature. It is believed to be related to some electrical wiring.

A gofundme with a goal of $5,000 has been set up in an attempt to recover some of the losses. As of 10:00 a.m. Friday, the page has managed to raise around $600.

This story is still developing and will be updated as more information becomes available.
