Foley is Headed Back to the Baseball State Tournament!

The Falcons played their baseball section championship game on Friday in St. Cloud against a familiar opponent.

Foley needed one more win to punch their ticket to the State Tournament for a second consecutive season! They would face off against Albany once again, a team who they had already played three times. Twice during the regular season and once in the section semi final. It wasn't going to be easy to beat a team a fourth time but the Falcons carried a ton of confidence to do so.

The game got off to a fast start for Foley, scoring 7 runs on 6 hits in the first inning! Things cooled off for them in the next couple innings, grabbing only one hit no runs and defensively committing two errors. While things cooled for Foley, the Huskies were ready to jump on the momentum. They were able to do just that, scoring 6 between the 3rd and 4th innings closing within one of the Foley lead. It all seemed to be headed towards a Albany comeback. But the Falcons were not about to let that happen. In the bottom of the 4th, they scored three more runs on two hits to extend their lead 10-6. That proved to be all they needed as they held Albany off the scoreboard in the final three innings and closed out the game as Section 6AA Champions!

The Falcons are headed back to the State Tournament for the second year in a row!

Congrats and good luck to Foley at the State Tournament!

Stayed tuned to KBEK to know who, when, and where the Falcons will play at the State Tournament. We do plan on being there to call the games for Foley!
