Ground Breaking Event Held For New Mora High School
The Mora School District held a ground breaking event for the new high school Monday evening.
Many students, staff and community members turned out to witness another milestone in the project, with speakers expressing their excitement for the future of Mora.
The crowd heard from Superintendent Dan Voce, High School Principal Brent Nelson, School Board Chair Scott Moe, English teacher Dr. Jackie Stevens and two students from the Mora Class of 2024.
Mora Superintendent Dan Voce touched on how students and staff played a factor in designing the new school.
"All the students and staff went around to look at different schools and try to pick what they liked about different schools and then we incorporated that into the design. So some of the students and especially the staff were in these user groups that they could give input on what they wanted to see in the classroom and within the school."
Former Mora Superintendent Craig Schultz was in attendance and expressed his joy for seeing the project taking off.
"It feels absolutely fantastic. It's been a long time coming, a lot of people involved getting us to this day. Looking forward to the great progress that the Mora Schools will be doing in their new facilities."
The new school is slated to be completed and for students to enter the building in the fall of 2023.
