High School Boys Basketball Update

As we approach the end of the regular season, let’s take a look at where your local teams stand:

Braham 9-13

QRF Ranking 79th in State 6th in Section 5A East

The Bombers season hasn’t gone the way they’ve wanted thus far. Currently on a four game losing streak, they travel to Ogilvie tonight. They’re hoping to win their last three games and enter the playoffs on a high note.

Cambridge-Isanti 19-3

QRF Ranking 15th in State 1st in Section 7AAAA

The Bluejackets have been one of the top teams in class AAAA all year. Their only losses coming against the #8 team in state, St. Cloud Apollo, #1 team in state Eden Prairie, and a Mississippi 8 conference loss yesterday against Princeton who is #11 in class AAA. The Bluejackets have a favorable last four games, and should easily be the #1 seed in the section playoffs.

East Central 16-7

QRF Ranking 45th in State 2nd in Section 5A East

The Eagles have enjoyed a very good season. They still have a slim chance to grab a share of the Great River Conference title. The Eagles have three games left, two of which will be in East Central. The Eagles look good enough to make a push for the section championship come playoff time.

Hinckley-Finlayson 10-11

QRF Ranking 57th in State 3rd in Section 5A East

The Jaguars may not put up huge numbers every game, and they may not be the flashiest team but they have given every opponent a run for their money. The Jaguars are a dark horse in the section playoffs, but don’t be surprised if they pull of an upset or two.

Mora 16-6

QRF Ranking 25th in State 7th in Section 6AA

The Mustangs have enjoyed a 13-2 record after their 3-4 start to the season. Mora went on an 11 game win streak from the end of December to the start of February. In that win streak they pulled off a huge upset win over the Dragons in Pine City. The Mustangs may jump Pine City for the #6 spot in the section.

North Branch 3-18

QRF Ranking 61st in State 8th in Section 7AAA

The Vikings have not won a game since starting the season 3-0. With five games left the Vikings have plenty of time to turn things around in time for playoffs.

Pine City 21-2

QRF Ranking 23rd in State 6th in Section 6AA

Pine City has enjoyed a great season. They’re one conference win away from becoming Great River Conference Champs. Pine City will look to make a push for the section championship when the playoffs.

Rush City 10-10

QRF Ranking 94th in State 15th in Section 6AA

Rush City has had an up and down season. They have certainly shown they can keep up with anyone they play. With four games left in the regular season the Tigers look to get hot at the right time.
