High School Boys Hockey Update

As we start the new year let’s take a look at where your favorite teams stand:


Cambridge-Isanti 3-9

QRF Ranking: 68th in State 10th in Section 5A

The Bluejackets played in the Herb Brooks Classic last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They struggled the first two days of the tournament. But on the final day of competition the Bluejackets won over Becker/Big Lake in overtime to 3rd in tournament. The Bluejackets will play St. Francis this Saturday at 3pm.


Mora 9-4

QRF Ranking 31st in State 4th in Section 5A

The Mustangs have enjoyed a good start to the season. Last Thursday-Saturday the Mustangs competed in the North Shore tournament. The Mustangs won the North Shore tournament as they beat all three opponents they faced, giving up only two goals in three games. Mora will face off against MLWR on Friday with puck drop at 7pm.


MLWR 3-9

QRF Ranking 78th in State 12th in Section 5A

After opening up the season with six straight losses the Rebels have found some success as of late. The Rebels are 3-3 in their last six games. Last week the Rebels played in the North Shore tournament. They suffered losses on the first two days before beating Ely on the final day of competition. The Rebels will host Mora on Friday.


North Branch 9-3

QRF Ranking 29th in State 3rd in Section 5A

The Vikings enjoyed a 7-2 start to the season before playing in the Little Falls tournament last week. North Branch won the first two days of competition and found themselves in the championship against the host team Little Falls. Unfortunately for the Vikings, Little Falls held all momentum in the game defeating North Branch 6-1. The Vikings will look to get back into the win column as they host Superior today at 7pm.


Pine City 11-2

QRF Ranking 12th in State 1st in Section 5A

The Dragons were 1-2 to open the season. But the Dragons have rattled off 10 straight wins. With three wins coming most recently at the Herb Brooks Classic, in which the Dragons were champions of the Bronze bracket. The Dragons will put their 10 game win streak on the line next Tuesday, as they travel to St. Paul Highland Park for their game at 730pm.
