High School Wrestling Update

Let’s take a look at how these local wrestlers did at the state tournament:


Cambridge-Isanti Jimmy Brown

Weight Class 152

Jimmy came into the state tournament with a 29-7 record. This was his third straight appearance at state. Jimmy won his first match but lost in the second, which sent him to the consolation round. He won his first match but lost in the second round of the consolation. He took 5th place and received All State Honors for the second time.


Mora Connor Gmahl

Weight Class 126

Connor entered the state tournament with a 39-11 record. He lost in the first round and also lost in the first round of consolation.


Dom Adams

Weight Class 182

Dom had a 38-12 record entering the state tournament. He won in the first round but fell in the second. In the consolation round he lost in the first round as well.


North Branch Josh Logan

Weight Class 132

Josh entered the tournament with a 35-8 record. He lost in the opening round of the tournament and unfortunately that ended is day.


Brandt Bombard

Weight Class 138

Brandt entered the competition sporting a 31-12 record. He lost in the first round then went to the consolation round. He lost in the first round there as well. He is only a sophomore, so expect him to be back next year.


Ashton LaBelle

Weight Class 145

Ashton held a 32-11 coming into the tournament. He won in the first round but lost in the second which sent him to the consolation round. He lost in the first round of the consolations. Only a sophomore, he is sure to make another state tournament appearance.


Austin Sonnek

Weight Class 152

Austin entered the tournament with a 27-17 record. He lost his opening match then fell in the first round of the consolation.


Pine City Timmy Johnson

Weight Class 170

Timmy came into the tournament with a 13-12 record. He lost in the first round, which sent him to the consolation round. He lost in the first consolation match ending his day. Timmy is only a sophomore, and will surely be back at the tournament next year.


Rush City/Braham Daniel Mielke

Weight Class 160

Daniel had a 30-6 record entering the state tournament. He started off strong winning his first match, but fell in his second. Unfortunately, he fell in the first round of consolation.
