A pair of ice fishing contests are on the way in east central Minnesota this winter.
The 68th Knife Lake Ice Fishing Contest is scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. All of the holes will be pre-drilled and entry cost is $5 a hole.
Prizes will be awarded for the top 5 places. Warming shelters are approved outside of the fishing contest and electronics are allowed.
The 19th Annual Fish Lake Ice Fishing Contest is slated for noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18. Registration for the event will take place from 10 to noon on the ice, and a meat raffle and live music will follow the event.
Like the Knife Lake contest, holes will be pre-drilled on the ice at $5 a hole. Rules will be posted on the ice, and electronics are barred from the contest.
