The Kanabec County Board of Commissioners held its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, as new officials were sworn in and hierarchy was established with the departure of former board chair Les Nielsen and vice chair Craig Smith.
The new faces on the board are Peter Ripka, representing District 1 after defeating incumbent Dennis McNally; Wendy Caswell, representing District 3; and Tom Roeschlein, representing District 5 after defeating Smith.
Rick Mattson, who represents District 4, was voted the board’s new chair. Allison Holland, who represents District 2, was selected as the board’s vice chair.
