Koleman Lind scores 30 Points as Pine City Upsets Osakis

Pine City played Osakis in the quarterfinals at St. Cloud State tonight.


The Dragons got the tip off and scored immediately. Pine City grabbed themselves an early 7-2 lead over the #2 seed. But the Silverstreaks stormed back, and went on a 9-0 run to rip the lead away from the Dragons. Pine City fought hard and worked themselves back to a tie game. Halfway through the 1st half, the teams were trading baskets. The game would hold this flow nearly till halftime. Before halftime stopped the action, Koleman Lind would help the Dragons regain the lead and take it into the half 38-34.


The Dragons started the 2nd half with all momentum on their side. Both teams played the 2nd half with lightning quick pace. Both teams drove up the court and shot the ball quickly. Late in the game, Osakis started to mount a comeback. But the Dragons slammed the door shut on their attempted comeback. Pine City received contributions from their lineup top to bottom with seniors like Logan and Lind leading the scoring. Christian Fromm playing solid defense and grabbing rebounds. Kameron Jusczak played a lot of minutes down the stretch and hit some big free throws towards the end. Caleb Fromm hit five free throws as the game came to a close. Konnor Jusczak and Seth Logan had to play most of the game in foul trouble and still made great contributions on both ends of the court to help lead their team to victory. The Dragons get the victory over the Silverstreaks 81-73. The Dragons were lead by Koleman Lind who racked up 30 points. Seth Logan scored 20. The Jucsczak brothers combined for 17 points with Konnor getting 9 and Kameron scoring 8.


Pine City advances to the Section 6AA semifinal They will play at St. Johns University on Wednesday against a familiar foe, Mora. The Dragons will look to not only avenge the loss they suffered to the Mustangs earlier in the season, but also advance to the section championship game.
