Sarah Lancaster, a first grade teacher at the Onamia School District is this year’s Minnesota Teacher of the Year recipient after their banquet was held on Sunday.
Lancaster has worked at the Onamia School district for nine years, coaching more that 20 seasons of athletic and art programs and volunteering with local youth groups and her church.
Cynthia Martin, a fellow colleague at the district stated in a recommendation letter, “No matter the age of the students she is working with, Sarah displays an unrivaled amount of passion for student education and improvement.”
Lancaster was selected out of 77 nominations and is the first Asian Pacific Islander descent to be given the award.
