The Milaca City Council approved a resolution to censure Milaca Mayor Harold Pedersen during the council's meeting earlier this week.
This comes after several city employees back in January called for the removal of the mayor following accusations of creating a hostile environment. Earlier this month provisions were put in place between the Mayor and council to restrict communications however, claims were made that these provisions have not been followed.
The censure will cease the mayor’s participation and appointments with committees and boards and restrict his communications with other organizations and other city leadership and restrict the mayor’s meetings with the city manager unless other staff is present.
The resolution passed unanimously, Mayor Pedersen stated that if this was the wish of the council and city, he would consider resigning from his position at the beginning of August.
