The Milaca City Council will hold a public hearing about an upcoming Highway 23 project on Monday, Nov. 25.
MnDOT will reconstruct two miles of Highway 23 from the Rum River bridge to Mille Lacs County Road 2 in Milaca starting in 2027.
The project includes removing a traffic signal and installing a roundabout at 23 and Central Avenue, and adding a multi-use trail along the north side of the project corridor.
Five roundabouts in total are planned for construction in the project area.
The final layout will be presented for approval at the public hearing.
The work is estimated to cost $19.8 million, with the city of Milaca on the hook for between $850,000 and $900,000.
