The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a warning to ice fishermen this year.
With ice starting to form on the lakes, theft from vehicles at boat landings and from ice house on the lakes have already begun.
The Sheriff’s department is strongly advising people venturing out onto the ice to not leave any valuable items in your vehicle or your fish house if you leave it on the lake. Patrols will continue to monitor these areas, but the increase in area with frozen lakes makes patrols busier.
The Sheriff's department also asks that if you see something suspicious, that you report it immediately and always check the ice conditions before you venture out.
