Mille Lacs Wins Third Straight Game

The Mille Lacs Raiders hosted the Hill City Hornets last night at Isle High School.

Hill City grabbed a quick lead in the 1st set 3-0, but it didn't last long as the Raiders tied the game at 3. After tying the game the Raiders stole all momentum and went on a tear. They lead by as much as 8 at one point. Hill City used its second timeout of the set and that helped them mount a comeback. The Raiders saw their lead slip away as the Hornets not only tied the set late but also took the lead. The 1st set headed into extra points, but the Hornets would finally pull away to win the set 28-26. The 2nd set was back and forth early on, until Mille Lacs took a three point lead that they were able to continue to build on. Soon they took an eight point lead and Hill City was on their heals. Mille Lacs won the 2nd set 25-16. Hill City took an early 3rd set lead, but the Raiders came back and swiped it away. Mille Lacs would build a five point lead, but they saw the Hornets come back and take the lead they had to begin the set. After that it was a back and forth affair, which lead in to extra points. Neither team willing to bend Mille Lacs muscled their way to set point and finally claimed set 3 29-27. Set four was even until the Hornets found a spark, and pulled out to a 19-13 lead. Mille Lacs was able to close the gap but Hill City won set 4 25-21. The Raiders were able to take set 5 15-10 winning the match 3-2.

The Raiders have now won three straight games and will take on the East Central Eagles on Thursday in Finlayson.
