Minnesota lawmaker charged with DWI in Chisago County

A Minnesota legislator has been charged with two counts of third-degree DWI after being arrested early Monday morning in Chisago County.

According to the criminal complaint, a sheriff’s office deputy was dispatched to I-35 in Harris on a report of an SUV off the road at about 2 in the morning.

The deputy continued northbound and observed an SUV traveling slowly on the shoulder with a flat front tire and its hazard lights on.

The vehicle’s driver was identified as Brion Curran, a DFL state representative for District 36B in the north Twin Cities metro area.

Curran allegedly showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests after admitting to having three drinks and incorrectly identifying her location. She also declined a preliminary breath test.

Her BAC was later measured at 0.16.
