MnDOT is cautioning drivers to prepare to slow down for work zones as construction projects start to ramp up, including some work in east central Minnesota.
Starting in mid-May, MnDOT will resurface and improve a 12-mile stretch of Highway 23 between Milaca and east of Ogilvie. The project will cost $6.5 million and require detours.
The northbound I-35 bridges over the Grindstone River near Hinckley are also planned for replacement early in 2024.
That work will include the northbound on-off ramps to Highway 48, which is expected to last a minimum of a month.Â
During the ramp closures, Hinckley will be accessible via a detour to Highway 61.
A public meeting about the project is set for 5 p.m. on April 15 at the Hinckley Community Center.
MnDOT and the city of Mora will also finish adding a left turn lane at the Highway 65 and 9th Street intersection during the construction season.
