Mora Beats Aitkin in Big Section Matchup

There was a big game in Section 7AA on Tuesday night with the Mora Mustangs hosting the Aitkin Gobblers. Mora was coming into the game in the five-slot in the section and Aitkin in the six-slot. 

This game did not disappoint. The lead for either team was never more than six. Caleb Smith for Aitkin lit it up from the perimeter with five-threes in the first half alone. That propelled Aitkin to a 43-42 halftime lead.

Mora came out firing on all cylinders in the second half going on a 9-0 run and taking a 51-42 lead. That lead grew to 10 at 69-59 thanks to the play of Dawson Smart, Caleb Evenson, and Ronan Mauer.

Aitkin did cut that lead to three late in the game but Mora was able to hold on to win 72-68.

Aitkin fell to 12-7 and will finish the week with Two Harbors on Wednesday and Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin on Friday.

Mora improved to 13-7 and will finish their week with trips to Pine City on Thursday and East Central on Friday.
