The Mora City Council received an update about a project to construct a left turn lane for Highway 65 at Ninth Street during last week’s meeting.
The city was awarded funding from MnDOT’s Local Partnership Program for the project last summer. City engineer Greg Anderson said draft plans have been submitted to MnDOT for review.
MnDOT will fund $150,000 toward the construction of the turn lane. Anderson said the funds would originally not be available until 2026, but the funds may be available this year if the project gets underway by June 30.
Anderson is eyeing the May city council meeting to award a contractor’s bid, so the turn lane construction work can be finished before the new Mora High School opens in August.
