The Mustangs boys basketball team hosted the Flyers on Tuesday night.
The game got off to a tad bit of a slow start for the Mustangs. Despite the slow start their defense was playing lights out and wouldn't give the Flyers any room to move. As the defense continued to play well it seemed to fuel the offense late in the first half. Jonah Smart hit the first three of the game for Mora and it sent the Mustangs into a late half scoring frenzy. Gage Braiedy and Max Sampson each added threes of their own, while Dallas Fix quietly also had a huge impact. At the end of the first half Mora held a 38-21 lead.
The Mustangs continued to add on to their lead early in the second half. Their defense hadn't lost a step either. Max Sampson had a big 2nd half scoring 13 of his 19 points in the final stanza. Mora was able to take their foot off the gas as the game neared its end with Mora ahead more than 30 points. They were able to bring in some of their JV players for valuable varsity minutes. Their JV got the job done and helped them close out a 68-48 victory.
With the win Mora moves to 10-1 on the season and 3-1 in the Granite Ridge Conference. They will play a make up game on Wednesday in Chisago Lakes. They will end the week at home against another conference opponent in Foley on Friday.
