The Mora High School student council will host a candidate forum for the upcoming school board special election on Wednesday, April 30.
Matt Heggernes, Tina Akers, Marci Jenson, Kimberly Hodson, and Brett Parson are the five candidates vying to fill a vacant term that expires on Jan. 8, 2029.
The forum will be held in the Mora Elementary Commons at 6:30 p.m., and feature questions prepared in advance by Mora students.
In November’s general election, Janel Murphy was elected to one of three open school board seats. However, she withdrew from the race when her name was still on the ballot, and declined to serve.
Heggernes, who has previously served on the board, was appointed to fill the vacancy in the interim.
The special election will be held on May 13. Absentee and early voting is available through May 12, with early voting available at the Mora High School District Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
