Mora Sweeps Season Series against Pine City

wcmpsports5

Mora hosted Pine City on Thursday night.

It was a rematch from earlier in the season. But it's not just a rematch, its a conference and a section game.

Each team took a second to shake off the nerves and settle into the game. Mora scored first and there was no slowing them down. They were able to score seemingly at will, not because the Dragon defense was playing poorly, but their offense was playing with the utmost confidence. Pine City's offense struggled to score but had plenty of opportunities. But it seem to be the small things they needed to correct, they also had very few second chance scoring chances because the Mora defense was boxing out at a high level. The Mustangs dominance carried them to a 46-11 halftime lead.

As the 2nd half began Mora continued to hold all momentum and built on their lead. Despite struggling in the 1st half, the Dragons continued to battle and play hard till the very end. As the 2nd half wore on both teams worked in their bench players and gave them several minutes of varsity playing time. Mora came out with the win 74-25.

The Mustangs win their 20th game of the season and continue to hold onto the top spot in the conference. They'll host Annandale on Friday.

For Pine City it was a tough night against one of the best defenses in Class AA basketball. But this team can only grow and try and go on a run before playoffs. They'll play in Proctor on Saturday.
