The Mora Mustangs and Rush City Tigers faced off on Tuesday night in both of their season openers.
Coming off of a 26-2 season last year, the Mustangs are hoping to build off of the success and improve in this 2025-2026 campaign. Really good guard play by Mora fueled their 79-29 victory over the Tigers. Caleb Evenson scored a game-high 23 points with senior Dawson Smart adding 18 of his own.
Rush City had some success as well. The Tigers are hoping to improve from their 6-20 season last year. They hope to do it through physical play and disciplined basketball. While Rush City did fall to the Mustangs on Tuesday, they weren’t without success of their own. Midway through the first half, the Tigers were able to grab momentum by going off on a 10-2 run and cutting the lead to 12.
The Tigers will be on the road again on Thursday for another Great River Conference bout with Hinckley-Finlayson.
Mora will once again be at home for their next game against Crosby-Ironton on Friday.
