The city of North Branch looked into making changes to the city’s current tobacco ordinance during their last meeting.
This comes after numerous citations and revocation of multiple licenses from the former Cloud X Vapes location.
North Branch Police Chief Dan Meyer touched on one of the changes being raising the tobacco sellers age requirement to 21 what impact it can have.
"I think the reason municipalities are going towards that is just for peer pressure. Might be hard for an 18 year old to refuse to sell to a friend."
Other changes the council looked into included restricting the amount of tobacco licenses issued in the city at one time with 14 being the current total and further restrictions on flavored tobacco.
Council will continue discussions on changes before a public hearing if officially set.
