North Branch Pulls License on Tobacco Store

The city of North Branch heard on several issues regarding a local tobacco shop during their city council meeting last week.

Cloud X Vapes is located on Old Main Street and was originally issued a tobacco license back in January of 2019. Since then, the location has received numerous complaints that illegal sales to minors have been taking place.

From June of 2019 to May of this year, Cloud X Vapes has been issued two violation fines totaling $700 dollars which have yet to be contested or paid. The store has also failed to properly display signage indicating minors were not allowed inside the business.

The establishment has also been issued a violation in regards to failing to follow the Governor’s Executive Order back in April of 2020 which the license holder was convicted on later in July.

Cloud X Vapes has also had documented violations in other locations including Forest Lake, Buffalo and the State of New York for online sales of flavored vape products including to minors.

"There clearly a trend here" stated North Branch City Counselor Amanda Darwin, "The license holders and their affiliates do not take that responsibility seriously."

The council voted to revoke Cloud X Vapes' tobacco license as well as deny any reinstatement request for the year 2022.
