Ogilvie Falls to Pine City

Ogilvie traveled to Pine City last night for a Great River Conference game.

The Dragons came into the game looking to defend their home court and end the conference schedule unblemished. The Lions wanted to spoil that, after the Dragons beat them on their home court.

The game got off to a slow start for both teams, the first points came almost 3 minutes into the game. The Dragons eventually scored first but Ogilvie quickly got a basket of their own. Pine City was up by one point with 14 minutes left. They would spend the next 5 minutes trying to go up and stay up by 10. The Lions fought hard to not allow Pine City to grab the double digit lead. Eventually the Dragons grabbed a double digit lead and never looked back. But a milestone was reached in the 1st half. Kameron Jusczak scored his 1,000th career point, after he grabbed a steal and dropped it in. Pine City was able to create a 22 point lead by halftime 48-26. A big part of them being able to create the lead they did was them stealing the ball 14 times in the half. Jusczak provided 19 points along with Dylan Petersen's 12 in the 1st half.

In the 2nd half the Dragons continued to hold the double digit lead throughout. Their offense helped by adding 5 three's and the defense had 9 more steals in the half. Though the game seemed out of reach, you couldn't tell from the way Ogilvie played. The Lions fought hard till the final buzzer. The Lions had a great performance from Alex VanderVegt in the 2nd half scoring 10 points. Even with his surge the Dragon lead was too much to overcome and Pine City claimed victory 78-48.

The Dragons finished the conference schedule 12-0 and win their 5th straight conference title. They also improve to 17-6. They will get set to face the rival Mustangs in Mora on Thursday. Ogilvie falls to 9-12 and will wait till Monday to play against St John's Prep on the road.
