Oglivie Schools Referendum Passes

Gratitude is what Ogilvie Superintendent Kathy Belshiem is feeling after all three referendum questions passed in a narrow vote this week.

Belshiem told KBEK: "We can't thank our community enough. You know here at school we have been celebrating; as I shared over the PA system it's a great day to be an Ogilvie Public Schools student and staff member."

The district says they were in need for the referendum to maintain class sizes and student programming along with bond measures to address facility issues like the ventilation as well as the roof, pool, and track.

The vote was a nail-biter as each of the three questions passed by less than 50 votes.

Belshiem says her focus is to now show voters that their support is worth it.

She says the roofing project should be completed by the summer and the rest of the proposed projects should be done by fall of 2024.
