An Onamia woman died Monday as a result of a hit-and-run crash on Highway 169.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a vehicle traveling northbound in Kathio Township, north of mile post 220, struck a pedestrian at about 4:45 p.m.
When law enforcement arrived, the victim was located deceased at the scene.
She was identified by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office as 56-year-old Onamia resident Cathy Donovan.
According to a news release from the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office, Donovan was a longtime provider at the Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia.
The vehicle that was involved left the scene of the crash.
The Mille Lacs Tribal Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver in the incident. The department told residents to be on the lookout for vehicles with significant front-end damage.
The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office and Onamia Fire also assisted at the scene.
