Pilot found deceased after small aircraft crashes near Cambridge airport

A pilot was found deceased after a small aircraft crashed near the Cambridge Municipal Airport on Thursday morning.

According to a news release from the city of Cambridge, a possible plane crash was reported to emergency services around 11:25 a.m.

The Isanti County Sheriff's Office and Cambridge police and fire departments responded to the scene and located a small aircraft that had crashed.

First responders located the pilot and determined that he was deceased. His identity and cause and nature of death will be released by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.

The FAA and NTSB will lead an investigation into the cause of the crash.
