Princeton Wins in Three over Bluejackets

Cambridge-Isanti hosted Princeton on Thursday night for a conference clash.

It was a big night for both squads, the Tigers looking to keep their unbeaten record intact, while the Bluejackets looked for their conference win.

The first set depending which team you were cheering for, either went really well or not so much. The Tigers played well and didn't make mistakes, while C-I seemed to be shaking off some nerves. Princeton would run away with the first set 25-11.

The 2nd set was a completely different look, the Bluejackets had made a 180. They were able to take their first lead of the match as well. Both sides were playing at a high level, the intensity and concentration was growing as the set went along. Neither team was able to have a lead larger than 2 points. It almost seemed inevitable that the set was headed towards extra points, until the Tigers were able to get just enough momentum to swing their way, to get the last few points and win set 2 25-22.

The 3rd set saw the Bluejackets get even better, they got out to an early lead, but they weren't just out to an early lead they were pulling away. The Tigers were forced to take a timeout and regroup. And it seemed to work, because they were able to close the gap on the C-I lead. Midway through the set, Princeton had tied it and the teams began to trade leads. Even though the game was close, it just felt as if C-I had ole moe on their side, and would be able to get the win. But late in the set, Princeton was able to get a big kill on the sideline which forced momentum to their side. With this new found energy, the Tigers were able to not only retake the lead but hold on for the win 25-19, and the match 3-0.

Princeton holds on to their undefeated record, and will host Chisago Lakes Tuesday.

C-I although the record won't show it, they are continuing to grow and get better and have plenty to look forward to the rest of the season. They will play at North Branch Tuesday.
