Sherburne County To Receive Funding for Elk Lake Project

Sherburne County will soon have a new piece of property once recommendations are approved to fund $1,250,000 for acquisition of property near Big Elk Lake.

The county has been developing a master plan to obtain funding to purchase nearly 430 acres of property which consists of wetlands, forests, fields and over a mile of shoreline along Big Elk Lake & Elk River.

The property was one of 19 projects that will receive funding recommended by The Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission which recommended over 12 million dollars in grants for projects all across the state.

Along with Sherburne County, Isanti County will also receive roughly $780,000 for projects regarding Irving and John Anderson Park.
