A new traffic control plan for Mora's Maple Avenue construction is slated to start next week.
According to a notice from the city, the intersection of Maple Avenue and North Grove Street will tentatively be passable from north to south starting on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Construction work will still continue in that area.
At Tuesday's city council meeting, city engineer Greg Anderson explained that the shift will alleviate some traffic concerns.
"People coming in on Maple can go south on Grove, over to Forest and through town, and we can get some of the traffic off 9th Street and going north on the detour," Anderson said.
Maple Avenue from North Grove Street east to Union Street North and Park Street will remain closed to through traffic until construction is complete.
Anderson anticipated crews will get the outlet pipe to Mora Lake by the end of next week.
"Another three weeks to a month of total chaos over there with all the pipe," Anderson said. "But then, at least by next week, the west end will be open so traffic can get north and south on Grove Street."
