6-7 News: Kids Ride Free Program

Free Transportation for Kids this Summer

Young people looking for free transportation this summer have an new, free option.

Arrowhead transit is offering free rides this summer for kids through Labor Day.

Pine City Chamber Executive Director Becky Schueller explains that the program is so beneficial for the community because it frees up parents to allow kids to join programs they otherwise wouldn't be able to transport them to during the summer months.

The program is available to kids within Pine City city limits, and kids must be 17 or under.

Anyone under 12 must be accompanied by an adult or sibling who’s at least 14.

To receive a free ride pass for the summer from Arrowhead transit, simply head to the library or city hall in Pine City.

City Hall Survey

The fight for the future of Pine City city Hall continues.

The public survey polling residents about their thoughts on its future was completed two weeks ago.

The results of that survey show that roughly 262 respondents shared their thoughts in that time.

Due to the low number of replies, the City is looking to likely increase the length of the survey with the goal in the range of 1000 replies.

Food and Fun Program

A program is available this summer for youth in Pine City.

The Summer Food and Fun program is aimed at families who struggle with food budgets during the summer months when kids are at home.

The program runs June 12th through August 17th.

It’s no cost to join if your child is in the Pine City Backpack program or reduced lunch.

To sign up for the program, call Julie Samuelson at 320-496-3009.

Family Fishing Outing

The cost of fishing for families can often be too great to overcome.

This Saturday in Rush City, New Hope Community Church is looking to change that.

The Church will be providing 10 boats with drivers for those interested.

In addition, if adults are accompanied by their kids, they can fish without a license.

The fishing event is this Saturday morning from 7:30 to 11:30 with a lunch provided afterward.
