Last Chance to Nominate Pine City Citizen of the Year

Time is running out to nominate a Pine City resident for Citizen of the Year.

The last chance for anyone to submit an entry for this year is a cutoff point at 4:30 pm tomorrow.

While there have only been a few new entries this year, Pine City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Becky Schueller said there are many in the running and that the pool of applicants carries over year to year.

Those interested in nominating someone can email the Pine City Chamber or drop off the letter at City Hall by 4:30 pm tomorrow.

Man Charged in Pine City Stabbing

Charges have come forward from a stabbing that took place on August 26th in Pine City.

Jesse James Jensen age 20 of Willow River has been charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, 1st degree assault, and 2nd degree assault.

According to the criminal complaint, Jensen stabbed Christina Martin in the chest, head, and face multiple times.

A citizen passing by stopped when he saw the bodies of the two outside the car, and picked up the knife that was used and kept it to give to deputies when they arrived.

Another passer-by stopped with the first, and the two broke up Jensen and Martin.

Jensen is currently being held at the Pine County Jail after being released from the hospital.

Rush City Car Accident Involves Seven; No Life Threatening Injuries

A massive car accident in Rush City yesterday afternoon was caused by a driver falling asleep.

In what’s believed to be medically related, the driver fell asleep at the wheel and triggered a 3 car crash, where one of the vehicles landed upside down.

Seven people were involved in the crash, and there were no life-threatening injuries reported.
