Business Owner: 'Has to be a Change in Leadership' in Pine City

An owner of multiple local businesses recently spoke out on his unhappiness with leadership at the Pine City city level.

Jay Abbott, who runs both The Diesel Shop and North Star Sanitation, recently attempted to start hauling waste in Pine City and was disappointed at there only being two contracts available to do so in city limits.

Abbott didn’t mince words when it comes to his thoughts on the current leadership.

Abbott's company North Star Sanitation is in talks with four surrounding cities surrounding Pine City to begin hauling waste.

Transportation Survey From Timber Trails Transportation

Relief could be on its way to improve transportation access for Kanabec County Residents.

Timber Trails Public Transit in Kanabec County was among 10 other communities chosen for a transportation community initiative grant.

The first step in that process is to hold an event to plan the increase in transportation access.

The issue in transportation in Kanabec and other rural areas is brought about by low population density.

Citizens who take the survey connected to the process will be entered for a chance to win a new iPad, amongst other prizes, including pre-paid cards.

Alzheimers Class in Pine City

The Pine City ACT on Alzheimers is holding a class beginning on Monday.

The course is Monday, September 18th from 7-8 pm at the Pine City Public Library.

The program provides information on detection, causes and risk factors, stages of the disease, treatment and much more.
