Moose Lake Man Killed I-35 Crash near North Branch


A 63-year-old Moose Lake man is dead after his vehicle was sent into the ditch by a drunk driver early Friday morning.

The victim was traveling northbound on I-35 near North Branch when a Toyota Tundra rear-ended his Buick Park Avenue at a high rate of speed causing it to go into the ditch and roll. The driver fo the Buick did not survive the crash.

The driver of the Toyota Tundra fled the scene but was located a short time later by law enforcement.

The incident caused northbound I-35 to be closed for several hours while authorities investigated the scene.

The driver was later identified as Samuel Moreno. A report from the Minnesota State Patrol said that he was allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol, and according to KSTP, Moreno was also driving without a license.
