Bombers and Tigers Battle in Late Season Conference Tilt

Braham traveled to Rush City on Monday night.

Both teams were coming in having won last week, and had nearly a week off. So both teams were coming in well rested and hungry for another conference win.

In the 1st set, neither team got off to a particularly great start, but the Tigers did hold the lead for the entirety of the 1st set. Their largest lead in the set was 6, but the Bombers continued to work hard to get back within a few points of the lead. After Braham pulled within a couple points of the lead, Rush City was able to finish off the set with some big hits and mistakes from Braham. The Tigers won the set 25-17.

Set 2 was a bit different. Neither team was really able to get into rhythm early on, and each side made some uncharacteristic mistakes. But like good teams do, they each overcame those and continued to play their hearts outs. As the set went along, it felt like Braham had started to turn the page and even swing momentum in their favor. The Tigers though, quickly turned up the heat and went on a scoring run to give them the largest lead of the match so far of which was 8. The Bombers would not go down without a fight, and again battled back going on a run of their own. While Braham did mount a small comeback, the Tigers again finished off the set winning 25-18.

Braham went into the 3rd set with the understanding, that they were only one or two less mistakes away from taking a set. But early on in the 3rd it appeared they wouldn't come close. The Tigers were firing on all cylinders and seemed unstoppable. They were at one point leading by 7 late in the set. But a key timeout by Braham turn things around. The Bombers would go on another late set scoring run, but this time it felt different. They were brining it to the Tigers and all momentum seemed to have swung to Braham. They were able to pull within three of the lead before Rush City called a timeout. This timeout would prove to be just what the Tigers needed. As they returned to the court they scored the final points of the set to win it 25-19 and sweep Braham 3-0.

With the win the Tigers have now won 8 in a row and will finish the regular season at Mille Lacs.

Although the Bombers lost, they have to feel good about the resilience their team showed. They'll play in Ogilvie to finish off the regular season.
