The second game of a double-header on the St. Cloud State campus on Friday night was for the title of Section 5A. The top seeds from both the east and the west made it through the bracket to face off against each other. This was a battle between the Bombers of Braham and the Pine River-Backus Tigers. It was also a rematch from January 13th that Braham won 70-56.
Braham played well from the start. Their defense played a big role as it has for the entirety of the season. Both teams needed some time to adjust. But due to the Bomber defense, the Tigers took much longer to find their rhythm.Â
This game was low scoring. Especially in the first half. The halftime score showed a 27-18 Braham lead.
As the second half started, PRB found their urgency, however. The Tiger defense forced the Bombers into some tough positions. Cutting the lead into single digits.Â
Braham, however, was able to find their bearings as the second half progressed. There was not the big run that we have seen from this Bomber squad over the season. This lead did grow progressively though. Braham eventually finishing off the Tigers winning 56-37.Â
With that win, the Bombers earned a trip to the State Tournament. They enter as the 8th seed and will face the top-seeded Mountain Iron-Buhl Rangers on Thursday at 11:00.Â
