A new section for the Braham Bombers volleyball squad means new opponents as well. Braham met one of those opponents in the semi-final on Tuesday night. The six-seed Bombers earned the right to travel to White Bear Lake to face to two-seed Liberty Classical Academy Lions after defeating the third-seed, Heritage Christian Academy.
It took a little bit of time for the Bombers to get acclimated to the small and loud confines of the Lions gym. LCA was able to run a length of six-straight points and seven of the first eight before Braham was able to settle in. After that, however, Braham and LCA went blow for blow the rest of the way.
No team was able to muster a lead larger than five after the 25-17 victory for Liberty Classical in the first set. Braham came back to win the second set 25-23. LCA then went on to win the third and fourth sets 25-20 and 26-24 to claim victory on the night.
LCA will play in the section 4A championship against the best team in the class, Mayer Lutheran on Saturday afternoon in Forest Lake.
Braham will finish their season 11-18 after a strong finish to the season and playoff run. The Bombers will miss their seniors, but they have a lot of young talent and are expected to make some noise next season.
