Braham welcomed in Swanville on Tuesday night.
The Bombers entered the night on top of the standings in 5A East, a win would keep them in that spot, a loss would open the door for East Central to take over.
On paper this matchup looked alittle lopsided in favor of Braham, but the action on the court proved different. The Bombers scored first but the Bulldogs then proceeded to go on a 7-0 run taking a 7-2 lead. But shortly after their run Braham went on their own 7-0 run to retake the lead. From there on out the 1ts half was a battle. The separation between the teams was paper thin, the lead was never more than 5. Both teams got into some foul trouble which forced both teams to adjust how they were playing. The two teams continued to trade the lead and late in the half Swanville had a 5 point advantage. But Braham closed the gap and had nearly tied the game but the Bulldogs were able to keep the lead into half 35-32.
The 2nd half began just like the 1st half finished, both teams continued trade the lead. But soon Braham was able to take advantage of rebounds on both sides of the ball and raced out to a 9 point lead. Swanville was able to make a short run themselves but the Bombers were able to keep pulling away. Soon the Bomber lead was 14 points and it seemed like they finally had the Bulldogs on the ropes. But credit is due to the Bulldogs, they continued to fight back and give themselves a chance. Braham continued to push the pace and keep their lead, but Swanville ended the game on a 12-5 run but it was not enough as the Bombers held on for the win 89-78.
Braham keeps 1st place in 5A East and will host Mille Lacs on Thursday for another chance to hold on to the section lead.
