Braham Falls in 4 Set in Battle of the Bombers

Braham hosted Barnum on Monday night.

Braham was looking to start the busy week off on a high note, as this game was their first of three.

Both teams came out a little shaky, making some mistakes early on. But the game was kept close and neither team was pulling away. Soon Braham found some rhythm and shook the nerves and looked like themselves. Braham was able to take advantage of the early Barnum struggles and built a small lead, which they were able to expand. Braham was able to keep the lead and win the 1st 25-18. The 2nd set began with Barnum getting on the board early, and they appeared to have knocked off the rust and settled in. They were able to hold the lead through the middle portions of the set before Braham was able to turn things in their favor and erase the lead. The teams would trade blows and the lead and the battle ensued. Braham had the slim lead late, but it was Barnum that was able to close out the set and win in extra points 26-24.

Once again in the third set, Barnum got out to an early lead. Braham was able to close the gap and keep themselves close but Barnum's momentum proved too much and they won the 3rd 25-18.

Then came set four, a set in which Braham had to win to extend the game into a fifth set. Braham came ready in the 4th, jumping out to an early lead. But it wasn't just an early lead it was a dominating one at that. They had a 10 point lead over Barnum and made it look smooth, Barnum seemingly couldn't get a stop. Braham had everything going their way and lead by 10 deep in the set. But then all of that Braham magic came to a halt, and Barnum got one point, then a bounce to go their way and all of a sudden the comeback was on. Barnum would go on a 12-1 run to erase the deficit and tie the set at 23. Braham needed something, anything to go their way to stop the run, and they would with a hit through a block to get to set point. But it was Barnum that was able to still hold onto momentum and score the final 3 points to win the set 26-24 and the game 3-1.

A tough loss for Braham, but they will continue to grow and get better as the season progresses. They'll host Rush City on Tuesday.
