Braham Sweeps Upsala In Double Header at Home

Both Braham teams hosted Upsala on Friday afternoon.

It started with the boys. Both the teams like to push the pace and score early and often.

The Bombers got off to a hot start and things were moving well. But Upsala would not be so quick to be put away, they made some adjustments and got right back in the game. Braham lead early but the Cardinals took over the lead after trailing for the first 5 minutes. The Bombers were on the verge of being down double digits, then proceeded to go on an 11-0 run to retake the lead 23-20. The teams then finished the half at full speed, scoring fast and in a hurry, and the Bombers were able to make some stops late to lead 44-35 at half.

The Cardinals got off to a really good start in the 2nd half and although down by more than 10 early on they eventually took the lead. It seemed like the Braham offense went stone cold, and their defense, while they didn't make every stop, made enough to not allow Upsala to pull away. The Bombers got back to their physical style of play and began to dominate in the paint. Braham's defense fed off the offenses success and began to come up with the stops they needed. They retook the lead and never looked back. While Upsala fought hard till the end the Bombers came away with the win 74-66.

The win moves them to 5-2 on the season.

Next it was the girls teams, and Braham looked to stop their two game skid.

The Lady Bombers got off to a fast start, quickly jumping out to a double digit lead. It looked as if they were going to put the game away early, but that was not the case. Their offense was slowed by the Upsala defense and the Cardinal offense started to find success from different areas. Upsala closed the gap and all of a sudden we had a game on our hands. While Upsala never took over the lead, they did enough to bother the Bombers and forced them to play off kilter. The Bombers did enough to keep the lead at half 37-25.

Braham came out with a point to prove in the 2nd half, early on they applied the pressure. Their offense scored seemingly at will, and their defense held Upsala scoreless for much of the 2nd half. The Lady Bombers didn't need to keep their impressive pace up as the lead was quickly insurmountable, thanks to their defensive play. They allowed a mere 9 points in the 2nd half while scoring 31. The Bombers would go on to win 68-34 and improve to 6-3 on the season and remain undefeated in section play.
