East Central traveled to Braham to face the Bombers to decide who will hold the top spot in Section 5A. There is still three weeks left in the regular season, so there is still time for movement. But with a 78-63 victory, Braham is the team the beat for now.
Braham started strong. Charged by Tyler Ecklund and Soren Lilly, the Bombers went into the halftime break leading the Eagles 43-32. Lilly scored his 1,000th point in that first half.
East Central did have quite the counter-punch in the second half. Cutting the lead to five at one point. Senior Ben Carlin led the way for the Eagles in the second half. The offense went through Carlin with a lot of success. Carlin also affected the game defensively as well. Braham was not able to get much driving the basketball and had to rely on outside shooting.
The Bombers did withstand the second half flurry by East Central and came away with a double digit victory. It seemed as though every Bomber was shooting the ball well throughout the game, and that was the difference.
East Central fell to 12-7 and will host Deer River on Tuesday.
Braham improved to 13-5 and will have a home game against Esko onTuesday.
