The Cambridge City Council started putting plans in motion for a regional wellness center project during a meeting earlier this month.
Councilors approved the creation of a task force to explore the steps necessary to construct a wellness center in Cambridge. According to a presentation by city administrator Evan Vogel, the facility would incorporate elements of a swim-and-gym community center, a full-service childcare provider, and programming for all ages.
The city also received two restricted donations to complete a feasibility study for the project. $10,000 was accepted from the Initiative Foundation, and $17,000 was given by the Memorial Hospital Foundation Board.
