A proclamation at Tuesday’s City Council meeting declared Foley as sister cities with Colstrip, Montana.
The agreement is a symbolic one recognizing the cities’ shared history.
Both cities were established by the Foley brothers. Foley was established first in 1900, while Colstrip was built in 1923.
Councilmember Rosalie Musachio joked that Foley can be the “big sister” city.
Mayor Gerard Bettendorf said Colstrip will include the proclamation in a time capsule project.
