Hillman Township Board Chair Ryan Martens was found guilty of 3rd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct earlier this week.
According to the criminal complaint, Martens had engaged in sexual conduct with a 17-year-old individual from April of 2020 to the end of May of 2021 while also being in a position of authority over the victim. The charges came after Martens discussed his actions to a mandated reporter whom are required to report any suspected abuse.
This conviction came as Martens still resided on the Hillman Township Board as recently as Monday and has been an active voice against the Crisman Family situation regarding Hornet Street.
Hillman Township residents had requested Martens to step down from his position back in October of 2021 due to the charge but Martens refused the community’s request.
Martens could face a $30,000 and/or 15 years in prison, Martens sentencing date is scheduled for July 18th.
