North Branch City Council gets Water & Light transition update

The North Branch City Council received an update on the Water and Light utility transition during Tuesday’s meeting.

According to public works director Shawn Williams, East Central Energy has started swapping electric meters, and has about 80 residential meters left to complete. About 190 commercial meters are also yet to be replaced due to supply chain issues.

Williams said the inventory purchased by ECE will be picked up once the storage yard has dried out from the snow.

The Water & Light commission also ordered fuel monitoring equipment for its generators, and is in the process of discussing and approving the budget for generation.
