Princeton, North Branch educators up for Teacher of the Year title

A North Branch teacher and a Princeton Public Schools primary school educator are among the field of candidates for the 2023 Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

Cathy Jo Kiloran, a second grade teacher in Princeton, and Pamela Newbauer, a middle school teacher for North Branch Area Public schools, have been nominated for the honor.

The Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be chosen from 131 hopefuls. An independent panel of leaders in education, business, government, nonprofits, and philanthropy will read the candidates’ portfolios over the next few weeks to narrow the list to a selection of semifinalists.

The Teacher of the Year program is in its 59th year. Last year’s winner was Onamia Elementary School first-grade teacher Sarah Lancaster.
