A Maplewood man and his girlfriend have been sentenced for a stabbing that took place in May of 2020.
According to the Chisago County’s Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a stabbing call that took place in Sunrise township where they found the victim deceased at the scene.
24 year old Justin Valian was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Unintentional Murder with his girlfriend, 29 year old Courtney Pilz-Carr, being charged with Aiding an Offender.
Both suspects plead guilty on charges, with Valian being sentenced to nearly 19 years in prison and Pilz-Carr with five years.
With time served already, Valian will serve 11 and a half years and Pilz-Carr will serve two and a half.
